MEWA was the first to reach out to the dreadful super-cyclone AILA-affected inhabitants of the Sunderbans with relief materials, food, potable water pouches, medicines and doctors. The Super-Cyclone had inflicted massive devastations  in the region causing innumerable loss of human lives and livestocks. The entire island subdivision was inundated and roadlinks were practically cut-off. Inspite of such challenges, the team of MEWA managed to reach the Sandeshkhali Block I & II Rajbari to carry out its Relief Operations and extending Emergency

Services to the traumatized people reeling in abject starvation followed by outbreak of inevitable water-borne diseases as an epidemic. Relief materials from other voluntary organizations could only reach their destinations leveraging the networks of MEWA, established only through working tirelessly for number of years in the area.
